We believe every balcony, rooftop, and public space has the potential to become a green, productive hub — where food is grown, waste is transformed, and people reconnect with nature.
About usNo. Edible is designed for people who have always wanted to grow their own food or compost at home but feel like they lack the time, space or know-how. Alongside the product, we're developing guides and resources to help you start from zero
No. When the composting system is properly balanced, it should not produce unpleasant smells or attract flies.
The compost is a living ecosystem and will naturally contain organisms such as worms and other small decomposers that help break down the organic matter. These are essential to the composting process and are a normal part of a healthy system.
If you notice an increase in flies or an unpleasant smell, it usually means the compost is out of balance, often because there is too much wet or fresh organic material. This can be corrected by adding more carbon-rich, dry materials, such as shredded cardboard, dry leaves or straw, and mixing them into the compost.
A healthy compost system should smell earthy, not unpleasant, and should support a thriving community of beneficial organisms.
The irrigation system is not included as standard. However, we recommend installing an automated irrigation system, either connected to a nearby water source or powered by solar energy. This makes watering more efficient and helps the system operate more autonomously.
Edible Cities is currently testing solar-powered irrigation systems that are particularly well suited to our systems.
Edible Balconies is currently in pre-launch. Join the waiting list to be the first to know when the system becomes available, and follow our first community pilots with Edible Cities.
